I don't think your convenience ought to be a factor SU considers in scheduling.

When SU associates itself with schools like Rutgers it harms the school and the program. Our name should never be in the same sentence with this longtime sick man of college athletics.

When we did play them Rutgers fans tried to increase the legitimacy of their program by suggesting that they were "rivals" with Syracuse. Since there was little to support this, they tried to provoke a rivalry by acting obnoxiously. (Something that came to them quite naturally. They are, after all, from New Jersey.)

They seem to think they can build a college athletics "rivalry" by antagonizing the fans of a school they wish they were rivals with. They don't understand that this friction between fan bases is just a by-product of a athletic rivalry that's built by significant games and history.

They are now trying that same strategy with Penn State and its fans. And it'll fail just like it did with us.
