It's pretty much over. I will go from having had season tickets at one point to looking to join the Rutgers 1000 if it is still in existence. You can't enter the Indy 500 with a home made go-cart. Going to the B1G was stupid. At first I thought like everyone else "this is the best/luckiest thing to happen to this school" but I should have known they'd find a way to screw it up. I don't care about the size of the university, I don't care about the university's academic mission, etc. Bottom line is this...the B1G is an athletic conference and this was about money. If this was about academics they would have added Stevens Institute and Johns Hopkins, not Rutgers and Maryland. There's no shame in playing in the Colonial Athletic Conference with Villanova, James Madison, Richmond, etc. They are good schools as is Rutgers. Big time athletics is not for RU. Time to end the experiment. And not for the "waste of taxpayer dollars" as that is a farce. Rather to save the alumni embarrassment. Maybe you will reap more donations if the scores floating along the ticker on Saturday afternoons aren't embarrassments although I think this year JMU and Towson would throttle the Knights on the gridiron. You can rejoin the "new" Big East for hoops and have your rivalry game with Seton Hall twice a year instead of once. The only sports program that would really suffer is wrestling as RU is building a national power there which is bolstered by B1G membership and the other Olympic sports would lose financing. And before anyone mocks my comment about wrestling it is absolutely true and the women's soccer team is pretty damn good too. That's about all they have.
