Let's count: DB = 1 DC = 1 1 + 1 = 2 There are 9 total assistant coaches, so I want to replace 2 of the 9 total coaches. Another way of saying that is that I want to replace 2/9 coaches. Don't let the basic math trip you up. Fractions can be complicated. EDIT: This post comes off as mean, and I don't want to be mean. It's not so much that I'm lukewarm. I just don't think that we've seen enough of their work to have an opinion one way or the other. For instance, we looked awful at QB for much of this year, but I can't hold that against a QB coach who walked into a tough situation, especially given that he is working with a OC who spent the first half of the year learning on the job. If Hunt consistently looks like a champ next year, I will enthusiastically support the QB coach. Furthermore, given that SU isn't able to recruit MASSIVE O-line men like OSU, we have to cultivate and train our talent. That takes time. So, there is a delay. I thought that our line was pretty decent this year, but I could have been the Oline coach and it could have more or less turned out the same. The real difference will be in a year or two. If we continue to take 2* recruits and turn them into NFL talent (i.e. Justin and Macky), I will enthusiastically support our OL coach. Judging him before he has had 2+ years on the job isn't fair, and it isn't accurate. In summary, as noted in my original post, the jury is still out on the QB coach and the OL coach, and they need at least one more year to prove things one way or the other. *Worst* case scenario, I think that we should replace 2 coaches this year (DC and DB), and 2 coaches next year (QB and OL). *Best* case scenario, we should replace two coaches this year (DC and DB) and keep everyone next year. Either way, we would only be replacing a maximum of two of the nine assistant coaches in a given year. **The one exception to my don't judge a SU OL coach based on one year is Mitch Browning. The improvement in our OL during the one year that he was OC was amazing. IMHO, he built the foundationfor Atkins.** P.S. to keep this thread on topic: RUTGERS IS A JOKE!
