I wondered if anything like this has ever happened before, so I went back and checked the last 30 years.  This is what I found.

In nearly half those years, it didn't happen even once.  Our starters did all the big scoring.  It has been done once in a season by 9 players and twice by the same player 8 times.  Only once before has a player done it more than two times.  That was when Devo was a naughty boy his Sr. year (2006-07).  JB took him out of the starting line-up and he proceeded to be our top scorer off the bench 4 times.  JB then put him back in as a starter.

Dion has now done it 6 times and we have completed a little more than one third of the season.  Nobody in 30 years has come close.

2.  The other amazing stat involves our championship team.  A freshman came off the bench and outscored Carmelo, Warrick, GMac and all the rest - not once but twice.  This did not happen against the cup-cakes, but agaist Notre Dame in February and in the NCAA tournament itself.  I must be kidding right?.  Absolutely not.
