there is no such rule.. say i fall down under the basket and the ball is 100 ft away and you run down the court and trip over me you gonna call tripping?

guarding position is just part of the equation on calling a foul.

at most it should have been incidental contact. if the ref was really doing his job he blows the play dead before the contact since you had a player in a dangerous spot to both him and the ball

Actually part of the rule is “ established” so if you were there for long enough time it can be deemed legal but if you fall and the guys moving in that area chances are even if he’s not beating the defender to the spot he has more natural movement right to that area

The charge call against Buddy really psd me off. He left the ground before Beverly was set. Officials still are terrible at understanding that rule.
