"my partners microphone isn't working right now."

It's amazing how the annoying chatter about anything but the game went away.

Immediately before that, I was thinking "God, how terrible Shulman has become calling a game."

And whoever unplugged the mic has been undone

It was Dave O’Brian not Dan Shulman.

all these games, esp this year when the announcing team is remote, feature nonstop banter about everything but the game going on

Terrible would be an understatement. I try to tune them out as best I can... Amazing how much better it was when one of them couldn't talk. ESPN could save some money and improve their broadcast at the same time.

yeah I had the same thought when Greenberg's mic was off - O'Brien had to just talk about the action in the game and it was wonderful

I watch a lot of college basketball and have noticed the same thing. I'm sure it's easy to start thinking you're just in your living room with your friends or whatever, but it's important to remember you're on national tv and supposed to be broadcasting a game.

I caught part of the Arizona game after ours and even Walton was a shadow of his usual self in the remote broadcast. It was like he wasn't high at all.

The announcers for professional sports are so much better than their college counterparts. They actually talk about the game.
