The WSJ had a very good article in yesterday's edition about the recruiting evaluation system - particularly the 5-star system. It provided hard data about the success rates of 2-3 stars, 4 stars and 5 stars. What was surprising to me was that a full 54% of 5-star recruits did not get drafted to the NFL. These are the guys that are supposed to be "can't miss" NFL prospects. It was 81% of 4-stars and 91% of 3-stars that didn't get drafted. Keep in mind that there are a lot more 3-star athletes. What these stats show is that you have a much higher chance of landing a star if you get more 5-star athletes. I was surprised that the difference between 3 and 4 stars wasn't such a big drop-off. Here's a link to the article: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204740904577195401715028964.html
