Rewatching the game I just realized that Whitner was playing safety when LSU hit that long pass to Dupre (which essentially ended the game). He seemed way out of position, covering the inside of the crossing reiever opposed to giving help over the top to Dupre.

If you were a safety playing against Fournette, you would be peering in the backfield thinking about the run too which is most likely what he was doing early in the play.

Our corners needed to be on an island that whole game and as expected, they got burnt a few times and the throws were on the money.

It was all hands on deck against Fournette.

When your gameplan is setup to stop a back like LF, you are going to give up some big plays in the passing games, it was due to happen.

I was shocked that LSU medical staff allowed Dupre back on the field after his head bounced off the turf in the first half. He was very wobbly walking off.

Had the same thought. Wobbly is an understatement, lol.

If you can't name the coverage then you just dont know the answer.

Whitty tweeted after the game, connected to an article bagging on Wigham, that it was his fault.

Asking Wigham to cover and athlete like Dupre 1 on 1 the full game you are asking to be beat a couple times. It is only natural. Even the best corners in the NFL get beat from time to time when they cover man all game long. If Syracuse doesn't want to give up the deep bomb then roll safety help. If Syracuse would rather sell out to stop the run then you will give up deep passes. A defense can't stop everything.
