Figured i'd have to answer for that one. Some people talk about family gatherings, vacations, schooling, mentors, etc as foundational in their upbringing. The NFL draft filled that role for me, and (Uncle) Mel was there from the start. I learned about organization, expectations, joy, defeat, math, precision, negotiation, class structure, geopolitics, graft etc. It was the highlight of my year...and still would be if i hadn't entered into some silly agreement that forces me to care what my wife/kids need and want.
