Seems like everyone is talking about a juco/transfer to come in for PG help, or Silent G.
What about Ron Patterson? Does he (or will he) have what it takes too become a solid PG contributor next year?
Does JB have it in him to give Bus a chance?

Why wouldn't JB give him a chance?

Dunno- he didn't get a whif this year… some people say he's already being recruited over…

I'm rooting for him.

He'd be a defensive upgrade, his handle isn't bad, he can shoot, he can penetrate, I think he can finish.

As a distributor, I don't know.

If he was ready to play ACC ball, he'd have played.

The "chance" that JB gave him was in practice. Read just about any scouting report on Buss before he entered SU; he does not have the handle to play PG at D-1., at least not yet.

I would imagine that JB did not give Buss a "chance" to play PG in meaningful games simply because he already knew from watching him for 100s of hours in practice that he could not get it done.

Thanks. Didn't realize his handle was that limited. I had always thought of him as a combo.

Last fall, the SU staff questioned why they recruited Buss once they saw him in practice.

No problem.

Patterson is one of the best defensive wings in the class with his combination of length, strength, and athleticism. Also he is a good catch and shoot guy out to 22 feet with big time bounce at the rim. His massive growth area comes with ball handling. He struggles to go left and doesn't have the ability to create his own shot yet.

He was a stud defender and gamer at the prep level. I would be intrigued to see what he could do on defense and in pressing situations. He has over a 7 foot wind span, if I recall correctly. Probably never going to be a PG. But, I would like to see what he could contribute as an athlete, energy guy.

I dont think hes leaving, at least not this year. He will be with his good friend CM here next year.
