Every year teams that thought they were in , get left out

Every year teams that thought they were out, get in.

What does the committee chair say every freaking year (the past few years at least) when addressing these teams

Who did you play and how did you fare in your non-conference games? Games you didnt HAVE to play, but chose to. Did you challenge yourself? Or did you pad your w/l record with fluff?

We've been hearing this every year for the past several years and frankly the choices they've made as to who is in and who is out have done a pretty good job confirming this is a real thing.

I think this is what gives us a better than puncher's chance at getting in barring a bloody Saturday.

I agree with you. I remember lamenting the cupcake heavy schedule for years, but this season we had the usual tournament(and won it), the big 10 challenge(although not a choice), some former conference rivals that weren't supposed to be cupcakes, and just seemingly less overall schedule padding compared to old school SU hoops.

I'm not sure if it just seems that way to me or if it's the actual case. Has swc75 or anyone done a breakdown of SU's season by season SOS? I'd be interested in checking out how the current season compares to our past.

So just what teams on the schedule , there "by choice", were really that good? One could make an argument that SU didn't even have a choice on which teams were in the preseason tournament. (Did SU pick the tourney for the teams playing or where it was plus it usually had decent teams?)

Syracuse is the 'draw' for most preseason tourneys.

The Orange are who the others want to play and best, for tv and prestige reasons.

The following numbers are all by Jerry Palm (CBS Sports - who the NCAA has corrected their numbers for, when informed of discrepancies):

Thanks for that! Quite a range of numbers there. I wish he had gone back further, just because I'm curious.

Is it allowed for me to point out the major shift after leaving the Big East for the ACC that the vocal majority on here was fawning over?

He goes back to 93-94. Just don't have time to pull the numbers now. I'll try to do it by tomorrow.

I took look at another SU bubble year's schedule (1997), and it was craptastic. Plus the Big East was down that year.
