These guys just haven't evolved enough or fast enough to keep up.

The money in the SEC and Big Ten is allowing their programs that have coaches who are in tune with the new era to thrive.

Look at Rutgers - no way they'd be doing what they are doing now if this was four years ago.  But they hired the right coach and have poured endless resources into him and his program and they are about to pass us, if they have not already, in terms of a program in the 2020s decade.

You're absolutely right, Wildhack and his choice for next coach will make or break the program moving forward.
