The "likes" and the "thanks" are nice but what's really good is to start a conversation about something. Does anybody have any comment on anything the coach said?

I thought the following was interesting:

- His goal is to make 4+ yards on first down. We did that 5 times in 22 first downs on Saturday.

- Ashton Broyld "did a good job" but "a couple plays could have been really good gains." A note of disappointment there.

- He attributed the communication problems to his quarterback's first games and a young offense. Matt had to add that it was Shafer and McDonald's first game int heir present positions as well.

- The corners were "for the most part, good". Faint praise

- He's satisfied with scoring on 2 of 3 takeaways in Penn State territory. We got 10 points. Is that really satisfactory?

- I realize the coaching staff is largely from the midwest. But should we be trying to recruit midwestern players for the ACC? Shouldn't our emphasis be on the Atlantic coast?

- Cal got off 99 plays, including 63 passes vs. Northwestern and got 549 yards and scored 30 points.. Last year we got off 95 plays, including 66 passes and gained 596 yards and scored 41 points. Against Penn State we got off 74 plays, 37 passes , =gained 260 yards and scored 17 points. If we are to do what Cal did, we've got to play at the pace we did last year- and go to the air as much as Cal and we did. That invovles a very different game plan than we saw last week and much greater efficiency in getting the plays in and off.
