The d.....

The d really settled in after a rocky start. Jimmy made the right adjustments to get out on their shooters and chuk did the job down low.

Yep. Although, as mentioned in the game thread last night, it's a good thing BC has a very weak front court. When they did get by on the baseline or open looks, they didn't/couldn't finish. PC was effective due to BC's lack of physicality at the position as well, and blocked some of BC's opportunities which contributed to their ineptness.

The 2 very early timeouts one by JB only 2 minutes into the game, the other timeout about 2 minutes later, JB really got after the team and they adjusted their defense, being so much more aggressive. There were quite a few times that all 5 BC players were well beyond the free throw line trying to initiate their offense. The D kept pushing them further and further from the basket. Great to see. BC made their first four 3's in the first 4 and a half minutes but was only 3 for 11 the rest of the half.

True but their 2 major big guys Mitchell and Popovic were averaging before SU over 14 rebounds and a little under 17 points a game. Last night they totaled 5 rebounds and 6 points. Even their guard Bowman who was averaging over 7 rebounds a game only got 4 against SU. I agree that they have to do the same against the more athletic big men in the ACC but SU did control their bigs more than other ACC competitors. (BC only lost by 1 at Va, and did beat Duke). The only team that smoked them other than us was UNC at UNC. Great start to a tough long stretch of conference games.

SU has games every 3 to 4 days with a little 6 day breather after being at Louisville and before Wake Forest at home. Hope they keep the energy and focus with their lack of depth.
