The Dadgum Refs

I actually think we got a ton of questionable calls and 50/50 calls all went our way tonight. Supposedly that is what you should expect at home... :)

BTW, Dome crowd was awesome all night!

Had no complaints, 3 or 4 calls where I yelled at the TV, but that's fine. When the number is that low I assume they're doing well because I'm sure we got about that many on our side as well.

G-Town thinks the refs blew tonight. Can't figure that out...!

By the way, the Hoya Talk board is hilarious right now regarding the refs, saying we are 20 points worse than them if the game is reffed fairly. They are also insinuating we are scared to see them in BET. Riiiight. Utterly terrified.

I give them a lot of credit though. Remember last year when they lost in the first round of the tournament(for like the 3rd straight year), they just shut their board down? No one was allowed to post. At least people are allowed to post there tonight. Baby steps.

I didn't like that they wouldn't allow the substitution at the end during the final GT timeout....seems like form over substance to me. But I won't complaint. Also thought they missed some calls in our favor coming down the stretch. They seemed to be letting them play for the most part and that is usually a good thing.

Interesting that Knight said he always felt Donato understood what a referee should do.

Thought they called a good first half. Too many nickel dimers whistled under the hoop in the second half. Especially the foul on fair at the end of regulation, thought that one was questionable

I was reading the G'Town board and those guys are such whiners. They win it's because they're better, they lose it's because they got hosed by the refs. Does Georgetown EVER just get beat?

That was a rough game with a ton of non-calls on both ends. I thought C.J. was gonna have his head ripped right off his neck at one point and...no call.

At the end of OT when the ball went out off G'Town, I though that call could have gone either way honestly, but that wasn't the decider by any means.

One guy writes 'we were such the better team, if we met on a neutral court with competent refs we'd beat Syracuse by 20+'. Are these guys for real?

I can't get out if this conference and away from these whiny douchebags fast enough. Suck it up you babies, you lost a game, move on.

And you think the Dukies will be better when we eat their lunch?

That was the one I was most upset about. You could see the ref just standing there watching Sims (would have been his 4th I think early in the 2nd half) wrap his arms around his neck on the rebound. lol

I thought there were 3 calls at the rim int he second half almost in succession that were probably deserving on no-calls, but again, no real gripes with the officiating today. It was fine.

i thought it was fair they missed some and got a little whistle happy at times but it was on both sides gtown was 2 deep 3s from losing hy double digits add that too fair missing on a lot of his jumpers

I only complained about them once, late in the game, when I thought Fair got hammered on a drive.

Sounds like this board when we lose.

I agree with you Houston. Near the end of the game we got two 50/50 calls (meaning you really couldn't tell who the ball went off of).

Yeah, the out of bounds call we got at the end, I'm not sure how you could ever know for sure who it went off, especially in real time.

Not me man, I never blame the refs for a loss. If the team didn't play well enough to take it out of the hands of a guy making a bad call, then too bad.

Those GTown peeps though - they're hollering like there was a money exchanged in the SU lockeroom before the game.

Ridiculous.

Not saying you specifically, but whenever we lose, there will absolutely be people complaining about the refs.

Were you at the game? On TV it seemed awfully quite for almost 30K fans against potentially the last game against GT in the dome. I'm glad they were louder and more into the game than it seemed on TV.

I also thought the refs were good tonight, I don't recall being upset with What calls too much tonight. Its a great thing when the refs are transparent in the game.

To be honest, during the game I thought it was a rare occasion where the calls were going our way. I mean if it's true the refs can err to one side, it makes sense they can err to the other as well. I guess how much one would consider the case to be is likely to be influenced by which team you were rooting for. Knicks411 is correct about saying the Georgetown fans aren't acting that differently than folks on here would be, and I don't blame them. If the shoe were on the other foot, one can only imagine the meltdown on here. I'm just so used to the calls going the other way that I was happy for the change of pace. Heaven knows we needed every ounce of it tonight. That isn't to take away from the big blocks Fab had, KJo's jumpers, etc, but I think any long time SU fan can empathize with our counterparts right now.

I complain about the refs. I usually blame them for like an hour after a loss maybe 25% of the time. After that I realize I'm insane.

If I'm still mad the next day I know they were legitimately bad though.
