It's been fascinating to watch it develop.  The biggest question seemed to be selling the MLS on using the football stadium.  The stadium will likely end up being replaced in the next decade anyway but the Panthers have a request (not sure if its formal yet or not) for $200M for improvements to make it 'soccer friendly' or something like that.  Tepper isn't stupid, he's moving the football operations across state lines to leverage tax breaks from SC and there have been rumors of an eventual new stadium straddling the NC/SC state line to play up the "Two states, one team" slogan.  He's been incredibly open about wanting an MLS franchise since he bought the Panthers.  Good times and lots of momentum building.

The crazy thing is that Mecklenburg County is already spending several million to rebuild an old stadium downtown to relocate the USL club from the suburbs.  Hopefully, that renovation results in the lacrosse team being resurrected in some form as well.
