This is the problem with topic vs threaded view.  If you go back and read the exchanges between "007" and myself (only), I think it will be more clear.  Here's the general course of events:
 
1. OO7 said (paraphrasing obviously) it seemed "DM was stunned that his team was not more competitive last year" referencing "competing for the BE Title".
2. I responded with: Coaches being concerned about expectations after the Pinstripe Bowl and general concerns about the talent level.  Without getting into too much detail...came from someone close enough to the program.
3. 007, politely, supported his/her position with the quote of the statement from DM "[B][COLOR=#000000]make no mistake about it, is to be able to compete for a BIG EAST Championship[/COLOR][/B][COLOR=#000000]."[/COLOR]
4. I responded by saying that the public goals were not anything less than a BE Title, but that was the stretch goal.  (both IMO and in what I had heard from my contact)
 
That's the context.  I am 100% certain that the realistic goal for this team as set by the Staff was to make a Bowl.  No doubt about that, but that wasn't what my comment about stretch goals was about.
 
It's not meaningful anyway...no one in their right mind should have envisioned this team competing for a BET so it's pretty meaningless anyway.  I just didn't understand why you were jumping on my back about the Bowl Game goal.
