- We tried to win this with Garrett Shrader’s passing in the first half. He was 4 for 12 and got sacked twice. In the second half he only attempted to pass 5 times, competing one and getting sacked once but ran the ball 10 times and scored a touchdown. Tucker’s runs set him up and Shader’s runs set Tucker up. That’s our bread and butter. You win games with your strengths, not your weaknesses.
- Still 5 completed passes in four quarters is a pretty pathetic output. We scored 2 touchdowns on two long runs and got a third from special teams. The rest of the game was basically the Rutgers game 2.0.
- We’re stuck on 6 turnovers in now 9 games after 80 in 36 games the last three years. The last one was in the Wake Forest game. Winning games without turnovers is a touch row to hoe. Our last couple of teams got turnovers but couldn’t take advantage of them. This team could, but we’re not getting them the ball with a short field.
- But we have no shortage of longs fields. We began possession on our own 1, our 6, out 7, our 8 and our 9. Our average drive started at our 16. In 12 possessions we had 1,006 yards to go. BC also had 12 possessions and averaged starting on their 36 and had an aggregate 764 yards to go. That’s 242 yards of hidden offense for BC.
- Each remaining game will be tougher than the last one.
