- The box score in a game like is cotton candy. It doesn’t tell you how they will do against other teams, as the first two games show.
- Still, I came away from this tournament with the feeling that we can play much better and that those other two games should have gone better than they did. We need to share the ball and play 40 minutes of defense. I still think we should always use some kind of pressure, even if it’s ragging the ball handler and setting up traps. We definitely need to get consistent production for our forwards. Benny has got to rededicate himself to becoming the player he needs to be and to being there for his teammates. Chris Bell has to look to drive to the basket when he threes aren’t falling and to see how else he can contribute to the team. Justin Taylor has to be more consistent with his shot. And hopefully, when Mounir Hima gets better, Maliq Brown can return to his natural forward position.
