- We got makeable shots but could not hit the broad side of a barn. We shot 9 for 27 inside the arc and 6 for 27 outside of it. You aren’t going to beat anyone shooting 33% on your two point shots. We shot 26% overall, our lowest ever percentage ever vs. UCONN. - Frank Howard was 0 for 9 from the field, had 4 assists and 3 turnovers. - Tyler Lydon was 1 for 8 after going 2 for 9 vs. North Florida. - Andrew White hit a huge, off balance shot at the end but was 4 for 14 overall and 3 for 11 from the arc. Connecticut made sure to stay in his face the whole game. - We didn’t stay in the face of Rodney Purvis and he hit 5 threes and scored 21 points. He was clearly their best shooter and we didn’t stay on him. - Tyler Roberson showed some energy in the first half but still is flipping the ball to the basket rather than shooting it, something Howard is doing too much of as well. - Battle seemed lost out there after his good game vs. North Florida. He got off only 6 shots and scored 7 points. - The game remains a mystery to 5th year senior John Gillon who was o for 4, including an air ball. - Points in the paint: 8. Fast break points: 2. When we got a defensive rebound and walked the ball up, my heart sank. - We seemed to have this one at 37-26, 40-30 and 44-35. We then went scoreless for 6:31, being out-scored 0-14. In 9 possessions we missed 7 shots, (two treys, two jumpers and 3 lay-ups), had two turnovers and a flop offensive foul, (we had an offensive rebound in there). it came at about the same time as our drought against North Florida but we didn’t have a 24 point lead. - That foul call at the end was *&^*&^!@$#! - I said after the North Florida game that is 1-2 guys play well, we lose. If 3-4 play well we probably win. If more than that play well, we blow your out. One guy played well for us tonight. - I know it’s early but these losses will be visited upon us when we are evaluated in March. - Our football and basketball teams are a combined 9-11 so far. Both season began with high hopes for different reasons and have been mostly disappointing so far. Summer seems like a long time ago.
