- Trevor Cooney was 3 for 13 and 2 for 8 form the arc. That’s a lot of shots. And virtually every shot was an open shot. He’s just got to make them. The two threes he had which gave us control of the game again shows how important he is to this team. If he can find the range and get a run like he had early in the season, nobody will beat us.
- We had a dozen turnovers, the most we’ve had in ACC play, (we had 13 vs. Eastern Michigan). This was only the second time all year we had more turnovers than the other team, (St. John’s was the other). We had 8 turnovers in the first half. We could have a big halftime lead. Turnover margin had been our biggest advantage over our opponents. Not today.
- In the second half, Florida State went to the line 14 times to 5 for us. It’s not like they were more aggressive in taking it to the hole than we were. There was a stretch when they seemed to be at the line for every possession. It prevented us from pulling away until Cooney finally hit his two threes.
- Christmas and Keita continue to get into foul trouble. A lot of times you wonder what they did wrong but they keep getting calls against them. DaJuan Coleman isn’t exactly Shaq but I liked it better when he was available.
