Our guards are not able to make defenders pay for guarding them closely.    They don't have the burst to blow by into the lane and then finish in the lane or at the rim.   They are able to drive the lane against some of the teams that don't guard as closely or that have guards that aren't as athletic, but expect more difficulties against Pitt.    I think that game I against Pitt was one of the first games where an opponent made this apparent.

This was compounded against Louisville because we couldn't hit the open jumpers that we did get.   Mal and Lydon couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and even though Cooney hit some threes he missed others when he was left wide open.     While its difficult to criticize TC too much as he did hit 5 threes and shot 50% from 3, those open misses from TC, TL and MR are ones that we needed in the flow of this game because other scoring opportunities either weren't there for us or we simply weren't converting them.
