- We make everything so hard. We missed a field goal and eschewed one twice, giving up the ball on downs deep in Wolfpack territory. Then after taking a 24-7 fourth quarter lead, we give up 75 and 72 yard plays to let it come down to an onside kick. - The passing numbers are great but it’s basically dink and dunk. Our receivers are mostly “possession” guys but I think we are also afraid to have McCord throw deep because we aren’t sure we can protect him long enough to get those throws off. It forces us to try to score with long drives where we can’t afford mistakes. And when the field shrinks, we don’t have the running game to punch it in consistently, (unless Allen manages to pull away from guys). We need to either get some quick strikes or start dominating up front to get the running game going to be a really strong team instead of merely an interesting one. - You’d think all the passing would open things up for the running game. LeQuint Allen was always trying to drag people past the line of scrimmage and a weapon like Yasim Willis ‘gained’ -5 yards in 5 carries. He looked like a guy trying to enter a subway just as the doors open and didn’t wait for the people on the train to exit. We ran for 78 yards (2.4 a carry) against a team giving up 160 yards rushing a game. - Blown coverages accounted for their two touchdown passes, (even if that guy stepped out of bounds), and four whiffed tackles produced the 72 yard play that set up the field goal. Yes, we shut them out except for that but if we were able to do that, how did we give up those plays? - Fran’s willingness to go for it on fourth down is obviously a product of his lack of faith in our placekicking. Remember when we were good at this? - Congratulations, convicts! Your attempt to get on camera even more than the players was successful. I hope you get an Emmy.
