- There were some weird numbers in this game: 6-1 Joe Girard was our second leading rebounder with 5, one less than all the forwards on the roster. Benny Williams and Jon Bol Ajak played exactly 40 minutes and had a dead man’s rebounds. They are both 6-10. Ajak led the team in assists with 4, the same number as our entire backcourt. There were 9 free throws attempted in the game, just 4 by us. We attempted 40 two point shots and were fouled 6 times. They attempted 27 and were fouled 9 times. Joe Girard scored 20 points but was only 2 for 10 from the arc. That makes him 3 for 27 in the last four games. He’s our ‘shooting’ guard. I don’t like weird numbers. - Our seniors scored 42 points and our freshman scored 16 points. We got 2 points each from the sophomore and junior classes. What happened to them? -So far this year: Two-point shots / Fouls called against other team (lower score better) Lehigh 43/17 = 2.53 vs. 41/10 = 4.10 (Meaning the calls favored us, not them) Colgate 37/14 = 2.64 vs. 21/9 = 2.33 Northeastern 46/14 = 3.29 vs. 27/13 = 2.08 Richmond 45/12 = 3.75 vs. 35/12 = 2.92 St. John’s 51/16 = 3.19 vs. 44/15 = 2.93 Bryant 36/18 = 2.00 vs. 32/23 = 1.39 Illinois 37/15 = 2.47 vs. 28/22 = 1.27 Notre Dame 40/6 = 6.67 vs. 27/9 = 3.00 - Notre Dame wasn’t nearly the defensive team Illinois was. Actually, they weren’t nearly the defensive team St. John’s or Bryant was, either. Yet we only scored 62 points. We won but don’t get used to it.
