- SU’s defense at the beginning of the game was so bad that JB used three different centers in the first two minutes of the game and they all immediately got scored on.
- When is the last time we had 3 guys foul out of a game, (it might have been the 2012 NCAA game against these Buckeyes)? Matt Park and Jim Satalin, not normally ‘homers‘ in the Harry Caray sense, expressed amazement at call after call going against the orange. State committed 11 fewer fouls than we did, (despite some intentional ones at the end), and shot 16 more free throws. They outscored us by 9 from the foul line, meaning we out-scored them by 19 from the field.
- Not a lot of those calls were necessarily bad. Some could have bene no-calls. The 3rd on Brissett was in that category. One the pop and drop play, the ‘foul’ took place before the shot, which should not have counted. But there were a lot of dumb fouls, reach-ins far from the basket, and a lot of plays where the Ohio State player had hustled to get better positon for rebounds and loose balls.
