- When it was 14-2, I recalled we were up 17-2 on Colgate last year. Yep, it was equally meaningless.
- Richmond made a game of it because they murdered us on the boards, 27-44. They have some size up front but they aren’t a big, bad, muscular team like the teams that normally hurt us on the boards. They just kept at and out-hustled our big guys. Williams and Brown are out power forwards. They got 5 rebounds in 45 combined minutes. Bell and Taylor are our small forwards. They got 2 rebounds in 46 minutes. Any time Joe Girard, (4) is our second-leading rebounder, we are in serious trouble.
- Benny Williams is what Dick Vitale would call a “Dow-Jonesr”, up and down. Tonight he was bearish, scoring 4 points on 2 for 6 shooting and grabbing three rebounds, although he did have 4 steals in 40 minutes. You knew we were in trouble in the last halfcourt set of regulation when we were trying to set up a play and Benny wound up with the ball at the top of the key, making like the point guard he never will be. With Joe, Jesse, Judah and Chris on the floor, he’s option #5.
- Our bench played 41 minutes and scored 2 points.
