- People said Virginia couldn’t blow us out. I had two concerns about that. Firstly they beat Clemson 61-36. If that isn’t a blow out, what is? Secondly, when Virginia beats you like 15, it seems like 30 because they are so patient and efficient on offense and so aggressive yet fundamentally sound on defense that your chance of overcoming a 15 point lead against them is about the same as overcoming a 30 point lead against anyone else. Once this one got away from us it was like watching a balloon sail away.

- We were 4 for 21 from three point range. Frank Howard was 1 for 9 and Tyus Battle 2 for 8. In the first half Virginia was in their face but they got the shots they wanted in the second half and still missed them.

- Our offensive scheme of high pick and rolls and isolation plays was pathetically inadequate against the Whoos. We had three players standing around while Battle and Howard dribbled around and passed it to each other, unable to get past their men to make a play or shoot an uncontested shot.

- In the second half we came out with a motion offense, which was good. We got the defenders moving to follow our players and moving defenders open up lanes for driving. Drives force the defense to collapse in and opens up passes inside and out. We started getting open shots but we still didn’t make them. I think there’s such a thing as PDSD: “Post Defensive Stress Disorder”. If you are struggling to get an open shot most of the game, when you do finally get some, you hurry the shots and miss anyway because you don’t expect shots to be open. You have a memory of being defended that works as well as the defense itself. Add to that fatigue and the stress of being behind all the time, and we came up empty even when the offense was actually functioning better that it had bene in the first half.

- The fatigue issue continued to be mentioned prominently in the radio broadcast. Matt Park and Jimmy Satalin spent much of the second half talking about fatigue and the stress they saw in the SU player’s faces. The “big three” played their usual 40 minutes and we have Louisville on the road in two days. But what can we do? We don’t have anybody else to play. Bourama Sidibie tweaked his knee again and didn’t play in this game and probably won’t play in the next.

- Which is a problem as Pascahl Chukwu came up totally empty, not attempting a shot in 26 minutes and pulling down only 3 rebounds compared to his 9p 16r performance in Charlottesville. JB said that he had no idea what PC was doing out there. that’s because he didn’t, either.

- Tell me again about recruiting ratings. Wasn’t Matthew Moyer a top 50 guy while Brissett and Sidibie weren’t top 100? Moyer is just a ‘banger’. He played 19 minutes and never attempted a shot. He got 4 rebounds that led to nothing.

- Getting to the line is a big part of our game but it was a small part of this one. We made 6 free throws, the same as the Cavs.

- In the first game against Virginia we out-rebounded them 41-31. In this game we got out-rebounded 26-35. Tony Bennett obviously decide to take away that advantage and when Tony decides that you aren’t going to be able to do something, you don’t get to do it

You’re such a pessimist

Fish bones, broken egg shells, a half-eaten eclair.

I came to talk some post-game trash. We had shots fall, we got stops at important points, and the press didn't hurt us this time.

A smashed tea cup, a piece of beef fat, and a piece of moldy bread.
