The Downside- Wake Forest II

- Through the first half, I was mostly looking for improvements in certain players. I had no illusions of winning the game or going on a winning streak, etc. Now I care again, so the losses will hurt.

- Jimmy Boeheim seems to be fading a bit. He played a full 35 minutes but only 6 scored 6 points and 2 for 5 shooting. He did have 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, but he’s been primarily a scorer and in the last two games he’s 5 for 15 with 14 points.

- We need more than 2 rebounds in 22 minutes from Jesse Edwards and he’s got to stay out of foul trouble.

I texted a person who kept showing me photos of her cat displaying the cat’s profound disinterest in the game.

This team plays 20th century basketball very well. The problem is that they keep playing 21st century teams.

There was plenty of hand checking from Wake. Boeheim was shouting about it after they called Buddy for that stupid hand check. He was like, “they’re doing the same thing down there on every possession and you’re not calling it!” He definitely had a point.

We almost beat them on their court in early January losing by just 3 in OT. I think that was the crazy game where at the very end we couldn’t inbound the darn ball.

Wake’s Williams and Muscius scored 43 points in the first game and only 14 total on Saturday. Buddy scored 13 more, Cole 8 more and our centers (Jesse and Frank) scored 12 more points in this outing.

I do recall that with Buddy but Wake wasn’t nearly as aggressive as other teams. Other teams have poked and face guarded and the refs allow it.
