- We gained over 400 yards against both Notre Dame and Florida State but only 370 vs. Wake Forest and we scored one offensive touchdown. . Yes, we were limited with injuries. But if we stay this limited, the sort of stretch run we need to get to a bowl game is highly unlikely.
- We were 3 for 10 on third down in the second half after a 6 for 9 first half. And we were in the red zone four times and got 1 touchdown. That puts us at 10 TDs and 12 field goals in 27 red zone possessions, with 5 possessions that came up completely empty. We won but our problems have hardly gone away.
- DeVante MacFarlane was the second Syracuse player in history to gain exactly 86 yards on a running play and not score, (can you guess the other?). He zigged when he should have zagged at the end of a run and the pursuit caught up to him at the Wake 5 yard line. Did we wind up scoring a touchdown? Of course not.
- We continued to have players helped off the field. Durrell Eskridge, Ritchy Desir, John Raymon, Omari Palmer and Rob Trudo were all dinged up. No idea how serious but the beat goes on. It’s a rough sport.
- We have three wins over Villanova, an FCS team, Central Michigan a MAC team with its two top players out and a Wake Forest team that’s probably the worst in the conference, (and thank God that’s not us). We won’t really have turned the corner until we beat somebody good.
