- 10-27, 21-28, 17-37, 13-30, 20-33. They all seem like the same game. We get off to a bad start and have to try to mount a comeback but there are too many penalties, drops or turnovers to get back in the game. That’s not totally true- we led Connecticut for a few minutes in the second half and led Cincinnati most of the first half. But we never seemed to playing well and it felt like we were going to lose these games and we did. Twice I tuned into Noon games at Noon and found we were already down 0-7. Louisville, Connecticut and Pittsburgh all scored touchdowns in a total of 3 minutes and 37 seconds.
- Doug Marrone stresses discipline but we are not a disciplined team. We had 90 yard in penalties in the first half of this game, all on personal fouls or offsides.
- We came into the game +7 in turnovers while they were -5. We came out of the game +2 and they were even.
- I hate the fact that we punted on 4th and 3 from the Pitt 48 with 1:27 to go in the first half, down by 10 points. That really sends a message to the players.
- We forced the other team to punt 47 times this year. We got 12 returns out of it for 37 yards. The opposition returned 24 of our 61 punts for 186 yards.
- Pitt was a team that had stumbled through the season just as we had. We stumbled worse. We should have been wearing those Maryland uniforms that made them look like crash test dummies.
