- Don’t shoot it, Fab!!! Arruuggh!
- 10 of our last 13 games have been decided by single digits, (and one of the others was the Rutgers game which was a close game as well). I get it. We can win close games. But that’s a little too much “blade running“. We are now 12-1 in single digit games. But we are 19-0 in double-digit games. Let’s have some more of them.
- We had 19 POP, (points outside the paint). We are averaging 26 for the season but have been under that 10 times in Big East games. We‘ve shot under 40% from the field 6 times in those games. We haven‘t shot 50% since the Rutgers game. We are 108 of 325 from the arc in Big East games, (.332). We’ve just to got to shoot the ball better. Getting points for putting the ball in the Pac basket was probably the first idea Naismith came up with. And it was his best.
- Scoop Jardine in the last two games: 1 for 10 from the field, 0 for 3 on treys, 2 points, 4 assists and 3 turnovers in 36 minutes. Ugh.
- CJ Fair finally started but came up empty, going 0 for 4 and getting only two free throws in1 5 minutes. He had no rebounds and turnover. He said he didn’t feel well. Get well soon!
- Brandon Triche, after an aggressive game vs. Louisville and 6 points in the first half, faded away with a one point second half. Maybe he’s like the old instamatic cameras- you’ve got to put some lacquer on him or he fades.
- Free throws! Kris Joseph went 1 for 3 in the final minute, the first a front end of a one and one.
- Our formula is to make up for rebounding deficits with steals and turnovers. We only forced 10 turnovers tonight. We’ve averaged 14 in our last 13 games. That’s not enough to make a big difference. We had 8 fast break points in this game. We need more defensive pressure.
