- Well, Scoop Jardine is productive again. Kris Joseph has found his lost aggressiveness. James Southerland is playing the best he has since November. Now we need to get CJ Fair back on track. His play has been so bad that, incredibly, he’s averaging fewer minutes played as a starter, (17) than he did as a reserve, (27). Since the start of the BET, he’s 2 for 17 from the field and 6 for 9 from the foul line, (he’s a 75%er and was only 3 for 6 today). He had 11 rebounds vs. Cincinnati by has had only 6 in 45 minutes in the other three games. We can win this but not without CJ playing well.
- We also need more from Brandon Triche, who scored 4 points, had 3 assists and 3 turnovers in 24 minutes.
- We followed the Wildcats 10 minute run with one field goal with an 8 minute run with only one of our own and saw an 11 point lead shrink to 1 by halftime. We were one point ahead of a team that was shooting 24%. It’s interesting to look at a break-down of those streaks. In their 10 minute drought, they missed 13 of 14 shots and 2 of 3 free throws and had 5 turnovers. In our 8 minute drought we missed 7 of 8 shots but had 7 of the 14 turnovers we had in the game. If we’d just taken better care of the ball, we’d have had a comfortable lead throughout.
- We try to counter a rebounding deficit with turnovers. You can’t do that when you have as many (14) and they did.
- We are feeling great right now. But that’s part of the plan. The season isn’t going to end with a loss in a game we expected to lose. It will come, as it always does, with a loss in a game we expected to win.
