- This game was very similar to and had almost the identical score as the West Virginia game last year. That one offered no clue as to what happened afterwards.
- Home vs. Road. In five true home games, we’ve averaged 495 yards and 34 points per game. We’ve given up 351 yards and 22 points per game. We’ve had 5 turnovers and forced 7. We are 4-1 in those games with one loss by one point. In four true road games, we’ve averaged 442 yards but only 22 points per game because we’ve had 10 turnovers to four for the opposition. We’ve given up 394 yards and 27.5 points per game. We are 1-3 in those games and had to rally from a 3-23 deficit in the one we won. Three of those games came after a home win. In now way did the success at home carry over to the way we played the next week. Our remaining two games are true road games.
- We gave up 36 for 49, 424 yards and 3scores to Teddy Bridgewater. Much of that was after we had a substantial lead, which was built up in part due to excellent defense in the first half. But it was just too easy down the stretch. Bridgewater was just playing pitch and catch with his receivers and I expected to see a series of scores and on-sides kicks at the end. Thank God for Davis’ pic. We’ve now given up 1494 yards in our last three games.
- Marcus Sales seems to have disappearred again. Lemon was wonderful but I kept thinking that all these throws to him would set up Sales. We've not really seen them both have big games at the same time. Their presence on the field should set eachother up for big plays.
- We had only 7 penalties for 55 yards but it continues to bug me that we have so many offsides penalties. I counted 6. To me, offsides penalties are an error of omission, not commission. It may be a symptom of the desire to make a play but it’s also a lack of focus on what you are doing.
- This should have been our breakout year. We were much better than most of the team’s we’ve played and just gave away 3-4 games. We should have left the Big East with a conference title and a BCS game. Instead we are hoping to get into the Beef Stew Bowl or whatever.
