-Brandon Triche had another poor shooting game. He was 2 for 9 from the field and didn’t score in the second half. He was 0 for 5 from the arc and they all seemed to be off the back rim. He was 0 for 5 vs. Pitt, too.
-We are 18 for 61 from the arc in the last four games, 30.8%. it would make the game a lot easier if we could just get a couple more threes per game. Just average three point shooting would give us that.
-Trevor Cooney hit a couple of treys that took the tour around the rim. I hate the way he poses with his arm in the air after a shot. Either move into position for along rebound or start back down court to play some defense. He’s attempted 101 shots this year and 77 of them have been treys. One of my favorite players was Lawrence Moten who became our all-time leading scorer and the leagues as well by moving throughout the game and shooting without hesitation whenever he had an open shot. 5, 10, 15, 20 footer. It didn’t matter. If it was an open shot, he took it. I think Cooney looks at himself as too much of a specialist. He pitches a tent at the three point line and just tries to score from there. If he would move more and just look for open shots regardless of distance, I think he’d be much better off.
- Nice high-light film block by Grant. But he had three teammates around him. Why not tap it to one them, instead of slamming it out of bounds?
