- Brandon Triche has missed 43 of 63 shots in his last six games, including 18 of 20 three pointers and his last 14 in a row. Our shooting guard is now shooting .276 from three point range. And his back-up, Trevor Cooney is shooting .264. Our shooting guards sure can shoot. They just don’t make.
- James Southerland, our zone buster, has missed 21 of his last 26 shots and 12 of his last 13 three pointers. Our “senior leaders” were 1 for 17 in the last game vs. Georgetown. They certainly led the team in the direction it went.
- This was predictable: Otto Porter scored 33 in the first game on 12 for 19 shooting while his teammates scored 24 on 7 for 35 shooting. So in this game we were all over Porter, who scored 10 points on 3 for 7 shooting but got 7 assists to his teammates who shot 18 for 43, including 9 three pointers and scored 51 points.
- One stat that can often summarize a basketball game is assists vs. turnovers. They were 18 vs. 9. We were 4 vs. 14. That says it all.
- We can’t score inside or outside so it leaves us two mans of putting the ball in the basket: drive to the hoop or get fast breaks off of steals, blocks and defensive rebounds. We had 4 steals, 4 blocks and 17 defensive rebounds that produced 6 fast break points. Not enough.
- Christmas played pretty well but Keita and Coleman combined for 0 points, 1 rebound and 0 blocks in 14 combined mintues.
- This team shows no signs of going anywhere in the post season. One of the big problems is our lack of options. Who do we go to? How can we juggle the line-up? It is what it is and what it is isn’t good.
