- Scoop Jardine seems to be fading out of the picture. He had 4 assists and no turnovers in 20 minutes but was only 1 for 4 from the field with 2 points. The more productive Brandon Triche and Dion Waiters finished the game. There will be other games but Scoop’s role this season so far seems diminished.

- James Southerland looked like a superstar vs. Fordham, Manhattan, Albany and Colgate. But in 6 minutes in this game he got 1 rebound and missed a shot and Boeheim got him out of there. You’ve got to be doing it now on this team.

- Rakeem Christmas and Michael Carter Williams had “deer-in the headlights” games and were out of there in 3 and 2 minutes, respectively. JB doesn’t have to force-feed the freshman this year.

- Baye Keita was 6 for 6 for 14 points vs. Albany. He has our best inside scoring moves. In the last two games he’s played 30 minutes and hasn’t attempted a shot.

- Seth Greenberg told the announcers that he’s studied films of our game, (or games) against Marquette last year and the Hokies came out playing the same way- milking the shot clock for the best shot they could get and moving the ball in and out to stretch- and stress- the zone. It worked for a half. But other and better teams are going to do the same thing, including Stanford, who looked great vs. Oklahoma State, Friday night. We’ve got to be able- and willing- to force the issue on defense. We also need to do a better job in the final seconds of the shot clock. We gave up a three and a foul in that situation in the first half last night. I wonder if the players think that the clock is going to play defense for them.
