So last season Edwards showed some signs that he could be a solid two-way center.

Then he had an off-season, seems to have put some good weight on, and now, looks like he's being treated by JB as an option of last resort and getting weird minutes at a position where we have some need with Sidibe out.

So, like... wassup?

I mean not sure where your coming up with this last resort stuff or JB giving him weird minutes, seems way off base. Jesse got time in the first half tonight and looked lost out there. JBA and Frank both looked better tonight. Also he came in before Frank did.

It seemed like he was the presumptive backup 5. JB's usually pretty consistent with how he doles out minutes to his primary bench center. That's not how Edwards has been used though. We know the situation is a little different because Marek can slide over to center.

Short answer... he’s soft and doesn’t do anything w conviction. Especially amongst other bodies.
I gave you a "like" because I agree with your observations, but I don't like to see him playing so soft. I thought he looked much better at times last year. He needs to play much more aggressively IMO.

Given the title of the thread, I was expecting something a little more Ludlum-esque.

I don’t think they have a backup 5 established (not including marek). Last year it was Jesse by default, now with JBA n Frank in town it’s up for grabs.

I did not see any sign. He cannot compete with any ACC center.

Contrast between Jesse Edwards and JBA/Frank.
JBA plays hard/high energy, gets after it.
Frank is also active, appears to have high upside.
Jesse's game is different. Showed promise last season -this season/small sample size -not much yet.
JBA/Frank look better so far. These 3 must go at it in practice, competing for PT.
Jesse seems to always have that odd slightly amused/disengaged look, even when playing well.
I'd like to see Jesse get animated or even angry in a game, then head to a timeout breathing hard, dripping sweat, looking for hydration. Something confirming a high level of engagement.
Adjusting/raising his governor may help competing for PT(?) Hope he can.

I think Frank is our emergency 5 by mid season with Jesse and Jon next to Braswell (newton will be our emergency wing). Marek backs up Sid. Kadary spells Joe and takes maybe 5 minutes from Buddy and we roll with 7. If we get deep need for minutes Frank in my opinion will soon surpass the other young bigs.

I pretty much agree, though in most games I hope Kadary does much more than “spell” Joe. Only games I want him “spelling” him is if Joe is unconscious from 3 and the other team is in a zone and can’t score anyway. Kid can do a lot of things out there to help us.

I think he is very good too. Should get 20 or so minutes a night. They aren't coming from Buddy.

The same JBA who (attempted to) took a charge flop that was horrific?
Someone else got the foul, but it was like JV.
Yeh that flop was brutal. That needs to go.

We've seen both Jesse and John Bol throw 'wrap around' passes that surprised us. In Jesse's case, (last year) it didn't result in a basket because Guerrier didn't expect it either. In John Bol's case it did because Frank did expect it. That's a good sign.

Frank has more upside than Edwards however Edwards is still learning the basics so you cant count him out. Aj is better suited at the 4.
Liked the energy and the 5 foot jump shot JB Ajak put threw the hoop last night
