I don't think the non die hard really care anymore. I think recruiting will stay pretty much the same as it always has more or less. We have offered and accepted countless commitments from kids like these over the years, it's not going to change with Babers. Once people accept where we fit in amongst the recruiting food chain we should be fine. It's how you develop the talent once it gets here. I think Shafer's recruiting prowess was very overrated on this board, I expect babers to be in the same vicinity of Shafer, Marrone and GROB. Difference being, I expect his offense to change that a bit over a 2-3 year period. Not a ton but a bit That said, Syracuse fans looking for top 20-25 recruiting classes are kidding themselves. DEVELOP, plain and simple. Shafer took one of those kids from Florida with no other FBS offers I believe ( including MAC). Marrone did the same a few times. especially at the OL/DL positions. We will not know how good this kid is until 2-3 years from now. I can see the point though too, I was never and am never really excited with scholarships like these but lets face it, kid like this comes in and you have to wait 2-3 years. The difference is because the kid who Shafer offered from Florida was an STA kid, his twitter army was piling on as if it was a major breakthrough for a pipeline, which it wasn't nor would it have been once Rocco left. I am not saying the kid will or will not contribute because I don't know but recruits like this certainly don't excite the fan base bit we will always have kids like these but I certainly don't want a bunch of smoke blown up my backside either. It happened with Shafer and it will happen with Babers. I just think Babers might know a little more what he is looking for to run his offensive system. Our classes will always have 4-5 kids like this. I don't think you have to be on one side or the other because I think both sides have valid points. The kid does have a frame you can work with though, that much is a given. Many of our higher rated lineman haven't really panned out recently which is peculiar as well.
