The Fun is in the Competition -- Bye Week Thread

One thing Orange fans can always take pride in is that we've ducked no one….played 'em all, up or down…and it's lead to some really fun years/weekends. Started thinking about all the fun we've had, including the absurd schedule in MacNabb's senior year when they opened with Tenn, @ Mich and @ NC St, with WVU, Pitt, VTech and Miami on the schedule….

We've played and beaten an impressive list in my lifetime (call it post-1980)…if sports is about experiences and fun and lessons and all that, then the program can boast that they've certainly provided enough excitement…certainly more (arguably) than any program in the Northeast (including Penn State)...

Going back a little further, Schwartzwalder had a really nice 10+ year run from the late 50's until 1967. We were as good as almost anybody in the country for a while. Started slipping in 1968...

Some great wins back then.

This is the second down period that I've experienced as an Orange fan. The latter Ben years extending into the Maloney years and early Mac years... was the first.

The second will go unmentioned. It hurts to think about it.
