I understand the point you are trying to make, but that math is a bit generous. MD scored 34 and only 7 were scored by the D. Yes, there was a blocked punt and a fumble but the 27 belong to the D. You can't just eliminate points scored off of turnovers. At the very least you wouldn't be distinguishing between the D holding to a FG and a TD.

I never understood all the hype about winning the second half as if that gave us a tie. If you get blown off the ball in the first half and allow the team to fall way behind that has an unmeasurable ill affect as well.

We don't have a great D and that will tell in conference play. The O will have to score more than 30 if we are to compete.

If we get to 3-2 I will be thrilled, but I am not holding my breath. Hopefully, we can knock off L'ville or Duke and make up for this loss.

We will have to agree to disagree. I don't think one can simply dismiss the plays one does not like as one play wonders. Our D has always been vulnerable to that play and we have been burned on it many times before. It is a result of our style of play. If you blitz 60-70% of the time you will eventually get burned by blitz killers. We live by the blitz and die by the blitz.

Clemson, ND, Duke and Louisville all have playmakers. I hope you are right and we can contain them, but I am skeptical.

What does happen every week is winning teams having fewer yards than losing teams. Points are all that matter and not yards. That is one reason they keep track of turnovers and 3rd down conversions.

Sorry, but don't sugarcoat it. That was a lost opportunity. We gave up 2 or 3 back-breakers too many. We easily could have won that game, but we didn't finish our drives and made too many dumb mistakes. That would have given us half the wins we needed for a bowl, with NINE games left to play. We will rue this one getting away, just like last year with Penn State. This puts us much closer to a 6-6 projection than an 8-4 one.

It wasn't their offense, it was the fact their D shut down USC's running game that really impressed me. I don't think BC is good, but I wouldn't say Maryland is better.
