and it still is. was there any doubt we could win with less than a B+ type effort on all 3 fronts? still multiple winnable games but we need a more complete effort on all 3 phases. find a way to win a road game, beat BC and steal one more. after that is all gravy and its not like some team we play wont throw a stinker in too to help us out.

I thought the goal was 5-2. Maybe I shouldn't say goal, but the hope. That was my hope anyway. I'd hate to go into those last 2 games at 4-6. If we're 4-3, that's very likely. Did you see anything yesterday that Petrino wouldn't expose? (which is our best chance at a steal).

Have to get a win next week, and make 5-2 believable for this team.

I wouldn't say it was the goal but the minimum expectation. Most people believed that we should beat RI, Wake, CMU, USF while losing to LSU. Then we needed to split UVA and Pitt. So I think most people had the goal at 5-2. Going 4-3 keeps us alive for a Bowl but it leaves zero margin for error.

My GOAL was always 5-2, though I always thought 4-3 was a distinct possibility.

We can still go into the FSU game with a record of 5-2, which would be great. It's just a little tougher now, since Pitt is in all likelihood better than USF. We should STILL beat Virginia, though. They're just not very good.

Goal may have been 4-3 for you, but do goals not change as things play out? You went from an unknown entity, to watching a team compete with a 5th string walk-on QB against a top 10 team in LSU to then falling flat against a very bad USF team. Make no mistake about it, yesterday was a bad loss against a bad team. The only win USF had all season was against Florida A&M, Maryland who is terrible this year and just fired their coach doubled them up and allowed only 17 points. We come out after a bye week and lose by 21 points and allow 45? Thats unacceptable.

This is exactly what I meant when I said that these are losses that are pointed to when you're handed your pink slip. It's an inexcusable loss. Add another check to the "should he be fired" column.
