Thought I'd share some info that has probably been overlooked recently. Today I realized how valuable Gbinije can be, and how much Grant has evolved over the past month or so. Now we all know Grant has been huge, but there are some more surprises than you'd expect. Grant is leading the team in rebounding, I know, shocking. But he is now 2nd on the team in assists. Would not have expected that, and even more shocking, CJ, Cooney, and Gbinije are all tied right behind Grant in assists, which is great considering Gbinije doesn't get that much time. Best part? Gbinije has a 3:1 Assist to TO ratio. Grant started out the season with an "Eh" jumpshot. It's now becoming as legit as CJ's. Also, he started out the season shooting around 40% from the line. He has now raised his average up to about 68-69%, and it seems to still be rising each game. Much like Grant, Gbinije started out with about the same FT %, although he doesn't get near the amount of attempts as Grant, you can tell he's worked hard to get that % up over 60 as well. Gbinije seems to really be learning where to get the ball to our Forwards, and seems to be playing better D than Cooney lately. Which is why I have absolutely no problem with JB benching Cooney when he trails away on defense. Perfect example - Cooney gave up three 3's in a row today. Gbinije came in and was all over Patterson at the top of the key, and made him force up bad shots. Another small key: Gbinije has one less block (4) than Ennis and Cooney combined (5) with such low minutes. All in all, I wanna thank Joey Mac (I'm never letting this go btw) for helping these boys with their stroke. We seem to be shooting close to or better than 75% from the line in every single digit game.
