People must really hate SU, because the narrative has been completely anti-SU.
First our opponents. Dayton was gonna beat us because they were tough inside and we couldn't handle it. So we smoked them, blew them off the floor, embarrassed them, so the narrative shifted.
MTSU was gonna beat us because their strength was not inside, but outside, where they would shoot the lights out against our zone, so we smoked them, blew them off the floor and embarrassed them, and now the narrative shifted back.
We're screwed against gonzaga because they have an inside player that will destroy us.
Now, let's look at our path. ESPNs reseeding of the field praised UNC for easy wins over a 16 seed and a 9 seed. It really showed their strength that they could beat these weaker teams. Us? We got lucky. We just got to play a bad team and fell into a sweet 16.
Consider this, though. Suppose this team was the steaming pile of crap that the media wanted them to be, and they lost to Dayton. And suppose MSU was the amazing team of basketball gods sent down from mount Olympus that the media is still convinced they are. And let's suppose MSU had the exact same scores against these 2 teams that we did. What would the narrative be? Would it be MSU got lucky in playing a 15 seed? Or would it be just like UNC? Would it be wow, MSU really showed how great they are by blowing out 2 solid teams? I think I know the answer, and you all do too.
Us against the world is a great place to be for a team, and our team appears to be feeding on it. So @ck em, and keep it up. Let's win 4 more.
