People must really hate SU, because the narrative has been completely anti-SU.

First our opponents. Dayton was gonna beat us because they were tough inside and we couldn't handle it. So we smoked them, blew them off the floor, embarrassed them, so the narrative shifted.

MTSU was gonna beat us because their strength was not inside, but outside, where they would shoot the lights out against our zone, so we smoked them, blew them off the floor and embarrassed them, and now the narrative shifted back.

We're screwed against gonzaga because they have an inside player that will destroy us.

Now, let's look at our path. ESPNs reseeding of the field praised UNC for easy wins over a 16 seed and a 9 seed. It really showed their strength that they could beat these weaker teams. Us? We got lucky. We just got to play a bad team and fell into a sweet 16.

Consider this, though. Suppose this team was the steaming pile of crap that the media wanted them to be, and they lost to Dayton. And suppose MSU was the amazing team of basketball gods sent down from mount Olympus that the media is still convinced they are. And let's suppose MSU had the exact same scores against these 2 teams that we did. What would the narrative be? Would it be MSU got lucky in playing a 15 seed? Or would it be just like UNC? Would it be wow, MSU really showed how great they are by blowing out 2 solid teams? I think I know the answer, and you all do too.

Us against the world is a great place to be for a team, and our team appears to be feeding on it. So @ck em, and keep it up. Let's win 4 more.

I tire of the "no one believed in us" story lines. Just win, and everything takes care of itself.
Agreed.
Win and they stay quiet.
Lose, even in the S16-E8-F4, and they'll put us down regardless.
What earthly difference does it make what "they" think?
JMHO

I don't think either one of you have this right.

It isn't the "no one believed in us" story line--it is the "not only aren't many of them giving us respect, several are intentionally going out of their way to ostentatiously DISRESPECT us in the national media" story line, which is a far different thing.

How was the ESPN reseeding article negative? I thought it said we had much better stats against MTSU than a very good MSU team did and that getting an upset in the first round and beating down a Cinderella still was a good thing in March. It also said we've been playing stout D.

What am I missing?

Fair enough, RF.
But perhaps I'm past the point of giving credence to some self-important hacks' opinion(s) regarding this team, and/or March Madness as a whole. They're usually wrong, and are never held accountable for their ridiculous takes on the situation.
I prefer we keep winning and deliver an appropriate FU in the only manner that counts. JMHO

I was Surprised because it wasn't Negative.

I can get behind that line of thought.

Right.
There are few things easier in the world to be than a sports analyst.
That's why there are so few really good ones.
All they have to do is get a gig and run their mouths...preparation optional for most.
Many of us on this board could do the job just fine...even with Orange blinders on.

The IMPORTANT thing, as G said after the MTSU game, is that the Orange just let the negative comments provide a little more motivation.

i agree to the media. no matter if we win the whole damn thing they will trash us. we need not to respond as any explanation will not suffice---just win take the trophy and the money and go home. the only response we can possibly make to any of the comments is " we won't dignify your comment with a response"
