As a teams lines go so goes the team. I like what i saw on Saturday. Im worried about depth on the interior D line and a lack of size on the Oline but all in all we look improved. I watched a ton of games and focused on this. Without a doubt the Alabama O and D lines look like the belong in another league. Simply off the chart. Lets hope we stay healthy and the young guys continue to improve. Last point but Both Easley and Sheppard looked much bigger than i expected. I think that Easly could actually end up inside in a few years. Big and mobile.

We will know a lot more after Wake, obviously.
Shanley knows how to block even though he is shorter than ideal. It isn't a physically imposing starting line, compared to others we will see in ACC games, but Palmer looked improved. It was good to see the first unit free of the injuries that were the plague of last season. Our second OL looked better than last year's second group (a year of experience helps) -- Conway and Roberts should be very good in time.
On defense, Slayton and Samuels were as expected. I was surprised that Giudice did not redshirt -- he looked OK paired with Clark in the second half.
Again, it was Rhode Island.

i thought Guidice and clark dominated from the time i was watching them when they first went in. their play led to the safety

They are everything, the building block to a good football team. If you are aren't good in the trenches, if you can't protect your qb, and get pressure on the opposing qb, your aren't going to win a lot of games.
