Since these kids will be arriving on campus in July, and I found out the other night some of you don't remember who all is in this class...poor Kielan Whitner..., I thought I would borrow tep624 fine work and give you a refresher course. I have also added the date that these commits originally verballed to Syracuse for those who were curious. If you are counting we got 8 commits in June last year that stuck and ended up signing a LOI.

One might think (the now qualified) Cullen kid really brings this class down. I mean where's his other offers? Does he possess the necessary strength and speed?

Can't entirely tell if you're serious or not

Daost killed it.

Daoust, Lea and Acosta did really well. McDonald really sucked last year. I thought he did a really nice job in the 2014 class, but man between guys being nowhere close to qualifying, taking verbals from kids that have never seen the campus, and then not hanging on to the couple of quality commits he did get that were qualified - just a lousy year for him.

Yep. You can tell why he hasn't stuck anywhere. He really wears out his welcome. The Edouard situation was a warning of what was going to be in store.

Personality issues aside, I think he can be a pretty effective recruiter as a position coach. Him being way over his head as an OC last year I think only contributed to his problems on the recruiting trail.

Probably, and I know I have stated it more times then people want to hear, but all throughout his time here he was severely over rated as a recruiter.

he's not an effective recruiter when his kids don't qualify... his classes just look nice on the recruiting sites.

So excited to see how Ealey, Blair and Henderson pan out

Totally agree. He still gets credit for Edouard. He got too much rope in the first place. That was definitely a mistake. He had free reign when it came to handing out offers, and accepting commits. I know this caused a little bit of friction between some coaches, because his loose philosophies didn't match with others. A big one was accepting commitments without the recruit visiting campus. I won't say his name, but there was 1 coach who totally disagreed with that approach, and was mad because he was taking spots for kids he was working on. Now this may be an indictment on someone else for letting this go on, but that's a different topic, for a different day. The moral of this story was McDonald was a terrible OC, and an over-rated recruiter, who only cared about himself.

And his sometimes inappropriate tweets - Oy.

I don't have time to go back and look, but I wonder when he landed that "top 25" class for Minnesota, how many kids never made it to campus?

I'm not defending McD but it's not always financially possible for kids to get up to the Hill before official visits begin. So if you've got a stud who wants to verbal I think you need to take him.

Thanks for doing this. It's nice to refresh the memory.

Can't wait to see these kids in action. I think we did well across the board, but I think we scored big time on the defensive line, linebacker and rb. Hopefully the qb of the future is in there too.

Go Cuse!

I don't think anybody has an issue with this, but it's about the # of kids, and frankly very few were true top notch studs that he took early with questionable grades.

One of his best recruits was Vincent Hill, the 4* WR from Milford that even we didn't want to touch because of his grades. He didn't qualify out of high school and ended up at Milford, and he never qualified for Minnesota and eventually ended up at Temple but didn't last there long.

Thanks for doing that list. One of the things I love about the recruiting board is I actually am familiar with all the names in our class. In past years, I just got overwhelmed with the numbers in football recruiting. But having all the names on one board for so long has really helped keep my mind straight on who all the guys are.

According to a prominent recruiting site that starts with R, only one member of the 2008 Minnesota recruiting class came from Florida. Interesting.

I agree.. thank you tep624. Being able to quickly see what other schools offered our commits and see their updated rankings without having to go hunting all over the place is great.

Did Andrew Spence and Gerald Robinson count as studs?
