His spin zone about the starting guards and that Kadary can't play more than 20 minutes is asinine, absurd and overall a bit insulting. We all watch these guys and can see that Kadary does things the other two couldn't dream of, he provides the length at the top of the zone we have always had and is the only guy capable of running the offense and getting others the ball for open looks. Spare me the Joe and Buddy are in the top 10 in assists. They play 35 a game and touch the ball every possession, they better get some assists. It's not like they are actually feeding the post or breaking their man down to draw defenders. Kadary has played over 20 minutes 4x, and actually was over 30 in all of those. He averaged 11ppg, 6.5 rebs, 6 assists, 3.2 steals and almost 2 blocks. It is absolutely INSANE that he keeps harping on Kadary's conditioning and inability to go more than 20 minutes. He's already proven he can do it and do it well!!!! Those numbers with his defensive presence, while not off the charts amazing, are exactly what we need. He gets others involved, can get his own shot, is disruptive on D and is an all-around strong and ascending player on both ends. The other two guards are basically at their ceilings. The only thing KR doesn't do well is shoot the 3, but he's not launching 8-10 a game while under 30%... Saying the perimeter D is good is hardly dealing with what we all see. Yes, teams haven't shot great against us from 3, but our starting guards routinely get beat off the dribble and do nothing to prevent passes to the high post. Also putting all the blame on the frontcourt about rebounding is ridiculous. Yes, the guards don't need to average 15 total boards a game, but they need to help, they need to put a body on someone and they can't just be perimeter observers. It's difficult for the backline to constantly run at shooters or drivers because the guards can't make up ground or prevent penetration. That's a major part of why our frontcourt has been destroyed on the glass, beyond the physical limitations. Having a SG and SF, and SF/PF at C, as the frontcourt isn't going to work on the glass or defensively, anyhow. Also, in the past hasn't JB always talked about how he needs more from his guards on the glass? Hmmmm. I understand why Buddy will never face the scorn, but Girard not getting it is weird. It seems like he lumps him in with Buddy so the impression is that he doesn't favor Buddy only, I don't know.
