since the last Big East expansion in 2006, it is a three team race for most regular season conference wins in the expanded conference.

Syracuse and Louisville ended last season knotted at the top with 81-41 records, followed closely by Pitt at 80-42. Georgetown and Marquette are a bit behind at 77-45, followed closely by Notre Dame at 76-46.

This is the last year of the real Big East, and it is already assured that SU will leave as the all time victories leader. I want to leave as the winner in the era of the expanded Big East, too.

With current conference records factored in:

Syracuse 87-42
Louisville 86-44
Pitt 85-46
Marquette 83-46
Georgetown 81-48
Notre Dame 80-49
Villanova 76-50
UConn 75-50

These are the only schools that entered the season with 70 or more wins - Cincy was next back at 56 and cannot possibly catch anyone on the list. West Virginia was ahead of both Nova and Uconn at the end of last season, with 74 wins to their 72 each.

because of differences in number of games played, the important number is losses. SU has a 2 game lead on Louisville and a 3 game lead on Pitt, so I am rooting for Pitt tonight.

Edited to reflect the results of Monday's games
