Then...5 straight losses like a blink of an eye. 5 games in which SU played hurt and had played like their legs were tied together due to zero depth. Those last 5 games are a blur.

2018...5 and 2. It feels so much better in so many ways, talent and talent behind talent. Young talent. Speed and size.

One huge difference between 2011 and 2018, we didn't need the refs to gift us a missed PAT to win one of those 5 games. Toledo fans probably still hate us for that one.

One huge difference between 2011 and 2018, we didn't need the refs to gift us a missed PAT to win one of those 5 games. Toledo fans probably still hate us for that one.

Also, Wake Forest was beating us pretty good in the Dome in the first game, but then their QB who was lighting us up got knocked out of the game, and their backup was miserable. I can't imagine we win that one without that injury. Then we only managed to beat Rhode Island by one touchdown the following week, and a couple weeks later we beat Tulane by 3 points who went on to finish 2-11.

Basically, the 2011 5-2 was a lot of smoke and mirrors, this 5-2 is legitimate. I know, I know, "you are what your record says you are."
