Made the choice to leave for Washington based on the notion that he DID NOT want to fail expectations taking over for JB. After listening the the presser, I am reasonably convinced that this was a surprise to all involved. When I further analyze Mikes thought process, the dude was one freaking season away from the Helm of a more attractive program than Washington. The keys to the car were his and all his to do with as he pleased. I think it truly troubled him to look failure in the face and be the one responsible for the demise of CUSE hoops. I believe his desire to please and not disappoint Boeheim drove him to look at the Washington offer.
This scenario makes the most sense when you step back and look at it like an intelligent human being that weighs the pros and cons.
Dude didn't want to fail, disappoint JB and go down as the guy that succeeded JB and fumbled the Syracuse basketball program.
