The most important part of any football program is a good recruiting program. Superior football players win football games.
 
To have a good recruiting program, Syracuse University must have a solid coaching staff. By solid coaching staff, I mean a head coach who is not about to be fired or having rumors spread to that effect by the news media and fans.
 
The head coach must promote his staff so they, too, become effective recruiters.
 
Another important aspect to recruiting is having a facility that is comparable to schools that you are competing with in recruiting.
 
Money must be available to accomplish all of the above. Syracuse University must think first class to be first class.
 
If Syracuse University thinks Frank Maloney is a first-Class coach, give him a vote of confidence before the recruiting season begins.
 
If they believe he is not a first-class coach, fire him now and find a first-class coach who meets the criteria that a first-class program requires.
